Karlsruhe is the second-largest city in Baden-Württemberg and is located in southwestern Germany. It has approximately 300,000 inhabitants and is thus one of the largest university cities in Germany. Karlsruhe University (KIT) has around 24,000 students, including many international students from over 100 countries. In addition to KIT, there are 6 other state universities in Karlsruhe, such as Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (former FH), the University of Music, the State Academy of Fine Arts, and the University of Education, so that a total of around 40,000 students are enrolled here.
