Studying without a numerus clausus (NC)

“N.C.” is the abbreviation for “Numerus clausus” and means that students can only study with admission restrictions. This is the case when demand exceeds the supply of study places.

At GoVersity, with our academic partners, you can study without the restriction of a numerus clausus, i.e. NC-free. This gives everyone the chance to pursue their academic goals regardless of their grade point average. Even if you do not have a university entrance qualification, you have the opportunity to complete a university degree with us.

An “NC-free” course at GoVersity also offers the opportunity to apply for a course if you were unable to apply for a place in time or if you have decided on a course for which there are no places available at state universities.

Another advantage is that studying with GoVersity is more personal than at state universities. There are smaller groups and therefore more individual supervision and support from the teaching staff and study coaches. The courses are also more interactive and practical, which makes the learning process easier.

We also offer a flexible, part-time study model for both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, which allows students to work full-time alongside their studies and devote more time to family and friends.

Why is it possible to study at private universities without a numerus clausus?

It is possible to study “NC-free” at private universities in Germany, as they are generally funded by foundations, associations or private initiatives and are not financed by the state. They are therefore not bound by the same rules and regulations that apply to state universities. This is why private universities also have more freedom to design their course offerings and admission procedures themselves. However, this does not mean that private universities do not have the same or even stricter quality standards.

On the contrary: in order to guarantee students a good education, private universities must meet strict quality criteria and are, for example, audited by independent accreditation agencies such as FIBAA . This agency ensures that private universities meet the same academic requirements as state universities.
