Why is business coaching useful for students? | GoVersity

What do professional athletes, politicians and managers have in common? Few financial worries? An interesting profession? A stressful life? Yes, everything is correct! But what they also often have is coaching. More specifically, business coaches who help them to develop their careers and find innovative and effective solutions to a wide range of problems in life.

But it’s not just in your job that you face challenges – you also have to overcome many hurdles during your studies in order to reach your final destination: a Bachelor’s, Master’s or MBA degree. As a young person, you certainly know that best. So it should come as no surprise to you that a business coach can also be a valuable addition to you and your studies.

Because let’s be honest: between enjoying your new freedom as an adult, wild parties, stressful part-time jobs and new acquaintances, studying can sometimes be really nerve-wracking and it’s simply good to have someone to turn to who can support you and work with you on issues such as exam nerves, writer’s block when writing your Master’s thesis or difficult salary negotiations and conflicts at work if you’re studying part-time. A business coach can be that person for you!

How can a business coach support you during your studies?

Ideally, a business coach will work with you throughout your studies. This is the best way to get to know each other and he or she can respond to you individually and help you further.

So far, so good. But unfortunately there’s a problem: where can you find such a business coach and doesn’t it cost anything? The fact is that most universities in Germany simply do not offer such a business coach for students – but that would be really desirable for most students.

No wonder: after all, especially at the beginning of your student life, you probably have no idea whether you like your studies or whether you should perhaps change after all – the same is almost certainly true for your professional future.

Now, what’s the best way to find the answers to these questions? Exactly: by getting to know yourself and your strengths and weaknesses, goals and dreams, values and ideas. A business coach supports you and works with you to ensure that you get the best out of yourself, focus on your individuality and do what you are passionate about and what you want to do.

How can you imagine working with a business coach?

Your individual business coach will advise you as a student on all topics relating to your studies and/or your private life – only when you need it, of course. Over time, a genuine relationship of trust will develop between you and your coach.

But don’t worry: a business coach like this will never throw you inflexible modular solutions. Instead, business coaches work with approaches and ideas that you develop yourself with their help. Of course, it’s always your decision what you do with it.

Another advantage: you may also be confronted with business coaching in your job in the future. So it’s great if you already have experience with it and know yourself and your abilities, needs and dreams better.

The self-reflection and social skills that you develop while working with a business coach are simply irreplaceable.

In the end, you will have strengthened your confidence in yourself so that you can believe in yourself. With this motivation, you will also be able to realize your dreams and visions and make them come true, whether at university or at work.
